Formed around the vision of a poet-turned-singer, the band called “Joyous” appeared when Joy teamed up with her life mate, Randy Pratt (Cactus, The Lizards, Star People) in his Electric Randyland Studio. Randy’s longtime creative partners—Pat Klein (The Lizards) Bill Olland (Star People) and Phil Weiss (Star People)—made a perfect fit to Joy’s words and music.

Midtown afternoon / Can’t get to you too soon / And from the light of day / We’ll love the night away / Bring a smile to my face / Send it through all time and space / Lifted from the endless race / Touch me where I'm warm / As we bathe in starlit light / Like embers hot and burning bright / Passions rise and we ignite / Dancing like a storm
Lyrics by Joy Maniscalco-Pratt

Down in Stuyvesant town / Where my home can be found / It‘s the best place around / Underneath the chords of day / I know the things to find my way / There‘s a light beneath my feet / Within the pulsing of the street / Did the day take it‘s toll upon your little tender soul? / I’ll save you from the concrete sea / And be your sanctuary / On the New York scene / Where they come with their dreams / All the Kings and the Queens / A kaleidoscope of life / Lights up the city nights / It can make you feel so nice / When you‘re edgy as a knife / You can come and shoot the breeze / With the beady eyes up in the trees / Makes you wonder what they see / And why are they so hard to please?

Time to have fun in the sinking sun / Laughing when the day is done / Unwind your mind / Let‘s try to find, / A way to leave those blues behind / Unlock the gate, it‘s getting late / Happiness could be our fate / It‘s not too far / To the nearest star / We‘ll get there in my old car / Honey, here I come / Got a pocket full of fun / When the work days done / Let‘s have some fun
